| A new house...and a new story! |

Its been quite a busy couple of months! My husband and I just bought our first home!
We are so excited...and just physically exhausted ofcourse! Between painting, cleaning and yardwork, we certainly have been busy.
The house is just perfect for us... a small brick ranch in a lovely neighborhood. Its about 40 years old so we definitely have our work cut out for us.
People told me how scary closing on a house is...and they were right! But afterwards, we went to our new home and it was just wonderful.
We've been in the new house for about 3 weeks now and it already seems like home. :-)
And Hermione the cat really seems to enjoy it as well. :-)
Sitting in my new office, I was inspired to start writing another Harry Potter fan fic. Its amazing how you sit around with thoughts in your head and then all of sudden get the urge to write it. So far i have it up at www.fanfiction.net as well as on the Simply Undeniable. If anyone is interested in checking it out, its called "Breathe" (an update on an earlier work) under stelladarcy.

I haven't updated in forever.
What prompted me to do so now is fun news.... Apparently my story "Worth Having" has been nominated for the 2006 R/Hr Awards in the category of Best Hermione depiction. Is this exciting or what? I can't wait to go and read all the stories, I can see from the list that some of my favorite authors are on there! To be in their company is just... huge.
Its been a rough since Christmas... On December 29, our beloved persian , Mrs. Jinx, died while being groomed. She was only 4 and so beautiful. My husband and I are just devastated. It was a tragic accident involving sedation that I will feel guilty for agreeing to for the rest of my life. There is just no getting past it.
To lessen our grief, we decided to "save" a shelter cat. We went to the local shelter and asked which cat has been there the longest. We were directed to a little black and white female with a horrid upper respitory infection. The volunteer at the shelter told us she was scheduled for euthanasia. Instead, we took her home and nursed her back to health. By the way, her name is Hermione and has the worst breath on the planet. ;-)
i miss Jinx terribly and to be quite honest, I don't feel the attachment to our new cat yet. I'm hoping that will come with time.
Other bad crap thats gone on is my grandfather finally being put into a nursing home and Christian and I having to find a home to buy in a hurry.
Oh well, hopefully February will signal a change for the better.. this nomination was an excellent start!
By the way, can anyone tell me if there is a separate site to view all the nominations and vote? Im a novice at this kind of thing! |

| a quiet moment |

I hate Sunday nights. In particular, I really hate having work related stuff to do on a Sunday night. Ugh. All this ranting is really ironic as I absolutely love my job and all of the children on my caseload. Unfortunately tomorrow I won't be doing therapy, rather, I will be presenting at a conference with my boss.
For those that haven't guessed, I really really hate presenting. In fact, I'm convinced that I have a mild social anxiety disorder.
Oh well, enough of me complaining. Its been a whirlwind of a month. My father-in-law was admitted to the hospital last Monday for a triple bypass. Instead, he got 6 bypasses! After some scary complications, he is finally on the road to recovery. Thank God. I have never seen my husband so undone.
I haven't been online in ages and I must say it was nice to lose myself in some fanfiction. Much thanks to ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) naiad8 for her second excellent chapter of "The Portrait" and her recommedation of Hesitation by modestyrabnott. If you read an exceptionally good piece of fiction, let me know. I can definitely use a distraction!

Well I'm certainly feeling good tonight, despite being rather under the gun with a presentation to put together. My story "Worth Having" was picked up by the marvelous Belovedranger (I sound like a groupie)and put up on Checkmated. Definitely worth the wait! It was a great process and my beta really took time to thoroughly edit it.
So thank you to all who reviewed! For those interested, I have a total of 3 little stories. They can be found on fanfiction.net under my pen name. I hope to write more. I still can't believe what a comfort writing turned out to be. I always wrote, even did it professionally for a time after college, but never thought to display it to such a large audience. It was a little scary.
I was at work today and amused myself by contemplating what my co-workers would make of me reading and writing Harry Potter fan fiction. They would be rather shocked I imagine. |

Well, I wrote that other story that has been knocking around my brain. For those interested, its a companion piece to "Worth Having" entitled "Where He Belongs."
I have it up on www.fanfiction.net and just submitted it to Simply Undeniable. I would love to submit it to Checkmated but my first story is still awaiting approval. I emailed them asking if it would be looked at soom and actually got an email back from Beloved Ranger (one of my favorite authors!)Does anyone know the length of time it takes to get a story up on Checkmated?
I still love "Worth Having" the best. Somehow I don't feel this latest attempt is quite up to snuff... |

Hooray! My story "Worth Having" was posted on Simply Undeniable and actually got reviews! (Sadly, in the past few hours, I think I have become what is called a "review junkie" and have been feverishly checking the site to see if anyone else commented on it...is this sad?)
In other news, I "confessed" to my husband the other day, that not only was I reading HP fanfiction, but I was now writing it. He thinks Im nuts.
Did anyone else have this problem? :-) |

It is extremely unfair that you live your whole life working, learning and growing, just to have your body and/or your mind, betray you at the end. My husband and I live in the apartment above my grandfather and sadly, dementia is staking its claim on his mind.
While never particularly easy going, his temperment now is quite difficult to manage. Its hard sometimes to ignore the rather mean comments he makes to us, my parents and his live in aide. |

Well, there was this idea that was just knocking around my head FOREVER, so I took a few hours this week and wrote another piece of HP fan fiction. Its on fanfiction.net, entitled "Worth Having". I also submitted it to Checkmated and SimplyUndeniable.
Boy, I am so NOT used to writing in this journal...will have to do it in short abbreviated manner similar to Bridget Jones. v.good. |
